Giant Pinkie Ring
All the answers are in
lemon quartz,
lemonade,
a square pool of sun
dwarfing my finger,
turning it into a supernova
at the end of the line.
This is not subtle beauty.
This is no time to be refined.
It is summer now; I need
all the light I can get.
Loved this – much like the big ass ring on your finger, yours is a light that shines indeed! Bravo!
Wow, thanks! I’ll remember that compliment for a long time. 🙂
ha….bling bling…i can def use the light in the summer as well…pale be gone….
Thanks, Brian!
I’m too busy for poems and comments and yet…this one knocked me over. Apparently I needed this gorgeous visual to carry in my head while I keep in mind that sometimes there is no time to be subtle!
Thank you so much, Complynn! I really appreciate that you took the time to read and comment. My giant ring is beaming at you right now.
What a picture-perfect poem. I love the sounds in it, too! Irregular rhymes like these float that little boat in my ear.
Thank you! Once again, I didn’t notice the near rhyme until you pointed it out. 🙂 I claim that my ear is what I use least when writing, but it seems like it secretly asserts itself from time to time.
Full circle beauty 🙂
Everything is superbly balanced here, thoroughly enjoyed this piece 🙂 xoxo
Thank you, Poppy! The ring is crazy, but I wanted to honor it somehow with a poem that had some restraint.
Like the idea of the big light coming from the small thing (the little finger!). Also still liking that we use the same theme – the “pink touch” shared! 🙂
Thank you! And me, too … you’re the only person I’ve ever run into who uses this same one. 🙂
